Gunners Stun Man City with a Ruthless 5-1 Performance

The Hosts Arsenal dominated Manchester City with a stunning 5-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium, grabbing three crucial points in the Premier League title race. On Sunday, February 2, 2025, the Gunners met Man City in Matchweek 24 of the 2024/2025 Premier League season. Mikel Arteta’s squad took full control from the start, punishing City’s poor form with an aggressive approach.

Arsenal wasted no time, as Martin Ødegaard scored just two minutes in after receiving a pass from Kai Havertz. Despite City’s efforts to respond, the first half ended 1-0 in Arsenal’s favour. The Visitors struck back in the 55th minute when Erling Haaland headed in the equalizer. However, Arsenal quickly regained the lead just a minute later when Thomas Partey’s shot deflected off John Stones and found the net.

The Gunners kept pushing, and in the 62nd minute, 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly smashed in his first goal for the club, beating goalkeeper Stefan Ortega despite a slight touch.

Kai Havertz made up for his earlier missed chances in the 76th minute, curling a left-footed shot into the far corner for Arsenal’s fourth goal. The team capped off the night in stoppage time when 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, set up by Declan Rice, blasted a spectacular shot past Ortega in the 93rd minute.

With this commanding win, Arsenal stayed in second place, six points behind Liverpool, while Man City remained in fourth.
