Harshal Patel – the talk of the town deserves a place in T20 World Cup?

With 29 wickets in just 13 games, Harshal Patel is one such player who’s raising some serious questions regarding his selection for the t20 World Cup. Since all the cricket boards can make some changes to their pre selected teams (by 10th October), a lot of Indians feels that Harshal Patel deserves a place in that team.

A lot of young talents are yet to perform to their full potential. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya is yet to bowl after his injury earlier in the season. Now, when India is already a pacer short, Harshal’s name might just come up when BCCI finally decides on the names that will represent India.

Legendary commentator, Harsha Bhogle on Wednesday expressed his feelings. In a tweet, Bhogle mentioned, “If the pitches at the ICC T20 World Cup are going to be similar to these, picking harshal Patel might not be a bad idea”. A horses-for-courses practical selection. What do you guys think?”

The board called up Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvneshwar to get the job done for India in UAE. Thus three pacers are a bit too less when the pitches can actually help the fast bowlers. Most importantly, Patel is a proven customer and can come in handy with his slower ones. To add to his resume, Harshal is a decent batsman as well. He can contribute in the lower middle order and the captain can use him well given that Virat knows him inside out.

Not only Harshal, but the citizens also want to see Shreyas and Chahal represent India in the upcoming tournament. With Chahar out of form and Chahal in a dream run, the board will definitely be on a dilemma. Also, there’s no doubt that Suryakumar deserves a spot in the team but his recent form is a matter of concern. Will Shreyas get a call on 10th is something that the entire nation is waiting to see.

In short, there’s a lot of hubbub surrounding Indian Cricket Team at the moment. A couple of changes are expected but it won’t be surprising if the board decides to go with the same players. Last moment changes can actually damage the momentum of the team.
