Has Alejandro Garnacho Played His Last Game for the Red Devils?

Man United head coach Ruben Amorim responded to speculation about Alejandro Garnacho's future after the match between Manchester United and Rangers in the Europa League.

Red Devils defeated Rangers 2-1 in the 2024/2025 Europa League League Phase, matchday 7, on Thursday (23/1/2025). The Red Devils secured the win thanks to Jack Butland and Bruno Fernandes' own goals.

Garnacho played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford. Though he didn't score, the Argentine impressed with a solid performance. Although Amorim trusted Garnacho as a starter against Rangers, speculation about his future has intensified, with Chelsea and Napoli reportedly interested in signing him this winter.

When asked if the game would mark Garnacho's last for Man United, Amorim confirmed that the player still belongs to the club. "I am focused on the game, and he is here—he plays for Manchester United," Amorim told the club's official website. "He played an important role for us today, so let's see in the next few days."

Amorim also praised the 20-year-old Garnacho for his ongoing improvement, especially in the latest match. "I think he's improving in every aspect of his game. He performed better today, both on and off the pitch, and in changing positions," Amorim said.

"He stayed involved and helped until the 90th minute. Sometimes he shows a little frustration because he wants more, but I believe he has the potential to do much better, especially in these situations," he added.

The Portuguese coach also revealed that Garnacho has started to understand the directions he receives. "What I can say is he's starting to grasp what I'm trying to do, and I just want to be clear—I'm trying to help them. At the end of the day, they're the ones doing the work," Amorim explained.
