Phil Salt unavailable for the rest of the Indian T20 League

Kolkata are at the top of the Indian T20 League 2024 Points Table. Their explosive opening pair of Sunil Narine and Phit Salt has been phenomenal with the bat throughout this season, playing match-winning knocks for the two-time champions. 

The English henchman did a fantastic job as a batsman and as a wicketkeeper providing necessary inputs to skipper Shreyas Iyer regarding DRS calls. A big blow comes for the Knights as Phil Salt will not be available for the remaining league match and the playoffs. 

Salt is a part of the England squad for the World T20 League 2024 and as per the instructions of the England Cricket Coard, he will have to play in the forthcoming T20I series against Pakistan. 

He has amassed 435 runs striking 4 half-centuries, 50 fours and 24 sixes at an average of 39.54 and a strike rate of 182.00 in 12 matches during his time with the two-time league champions. 

Kolkata now has the job of selecting a player who could replace the in-form batsman. For now, the best option is Rahmanullah Gurbaz who opened in the last season and seemed to be quite threatening to the opponent bowlers.
