The Men's Hundred 2024

Match 17: WEF vs SOB

Preview

The 17th game of The Hundred Men's 2024 will be an absolute blast as Welsh Fire takes on Southern Brave in Cardiff.

The Welsh Fire, however, have won two and lost two out of their four matches played, being fourth in the points table. Although the Fire had initial hiccups, they showed resilience by getting back with a narrow win against the Trent Rockets during their last match.

Jonny Bairstow's classy 55 runs from 45 balls, along with a composed 33 by captain Tom Abell, were the standout performances in Fire's batting effort in their last match. Their bowling unit, spearheaded by David Payne and Haris Rauf, will be itching to make their presence felt in front of their home crowd.

In contrast, the Southern Brave have been the team to beat so far, sitting very comfortably at the top of the points table with three wins and just one defeat. Their solitary loss came against the Northern Superchargers; however, they got back on track with convincing victories over the Manchester Originals and the Birmingham Phoenix.

They do have a powerful batting line-up to contend with, spearheaded by the in-form James Vince. His 90 not out off 47 balls against the Phoenix recently only saw him show the world what he is capable of doing. Brave's bowling attack, comprising Akeal Hosein and Chris Jordan, adds even further impetus.

This is going to be an absolute cracker of a game, as the Welsh Fire attempts to cash in on home advantage against table-topping Southern Brave. With both teams inspired by talent and form, this match could go either way and have a strong bearing on the overall standings at the end of The Hundred Men's 2024 season.

Pitch and Weather Report

The playing surface at Sophia Garden is expected to assist pacers early on in the innings, providing a hint of movement that can trouble the batters.
