Ian Bell joins Renegades as their assistant coach

Former England batsman Ian Bell has joined Renegades as an assistant coach for the forthcoming edition of the Aus T20 League under the helm of David Saker.

In the recent years Bell has been expanding his coaching resume having formerly worked in the Aus T20 League for the Hurricanes in the 2021-22 as an assistant under coach Adam Griffith.

This year he has worked with New Zealand as a consultant prior to the Cricket World Cup and has also had brief stints with England Under 19s, Derbyshire, Birmingham Phoenix and Chennai Braves in the UAE T10 League.

Bell has also won a title with Scorchers as a player in the 2016-17 season. Bell and Saker have worked together in the past when Bell was an England player and Saker was England’s assistant coach.

Bell will work with a vastly experienced playing lot including a number of long-time opponents, with Renegades besides Bell’s former Ashes foes Peter Siddle and Nathan Lyob to an already decorated squad that has the likes of Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and Kane Richardson. He will also share the dressing room with Renegades’ overseas players Quinton De Kock, Joe Clarke and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
