Retentions: All you need to know about the Bangalore franchise

Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell were the obvious choice for the franchise but so were Yuzvendra Chahal and Devdutt Padikkal. To everyone’s surprise, the franchise decided against that and now Chahal and Padikkal will be a part of the mega auction. This is a very big and bold decision from the franchise. Padikkal has been absolutely brilliant for them in the previous two editions and Chahal used to be the only bowler to rescue Bangalore from defeats and letting these two go is an absolute blunder.

It was reported that the franchise couldn’t agree with Chahal when it comes to the finances. Chahal should have been the second choice of the franchise and not Maxwell. If De Villiers wouldn’t have retired, the South African would have been in that position. So why not give Chahal that position and give Maxwell the third spot like it should have been. Mohammed Siraj has been retained for 7 crore and that made sense specially when the likes of Padikkal and Chahal were given the option to leave.

They will have to make a brand new team next season. Bangalore failed to retain their core players and without Kohli being the captain of the side, things won’t be easy for the upcoming season. They might try to get back Chahal and Padikkal but it is never going to be an easy task.

The former captain Virat Kohli post his retention said, “The amazing journey at RCB continues. 3 more years with this franchise that means so much to me. I believe the best is yet to come”.

The road will be tough for Bangalore for the upcoming season. They need to be very smart with the decisions and need to build a team which is very well balanced. They are famous for making teams that are top order heavy and that’s the reason why they choke. They now have the best chance to build a team properly and finally win the championship!
