Chennai will cross swords with Gujarat for the 7th match of the Indian T20 League. The game will be played at the Chennai fortress i.e. MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, March 26.

Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the five-time champions with the strong influence of MS Dhoni as the senior-most member of the team. Ravindra Jadeja is their inform all-rounder and will pose a threat to the last-time runner-ups.  

On the other side, Gujarat will also be led by a young mind, Shubman Gill in the absence of Hardik Pandya who was traded to Mumbai ahead of the Indian T20 League 2024. The one-time champions possess a powerful batting lineup with quality top and middle-order batters. Rashid Khan, their spin maestro will lead the bowling attack in the absence of their prime pacer Mohammaed Shami. 

CHE missed the services of Matheesha Pathirana in their inaugural encounter due to a hamstring injury, the Sri Lankan recently suffered from. Although he is available for the tournament but is expected to miss this match too.

Gaikwad and Co. will have a tactical advantage as they will host GUJ in this match. Chennai itself is a very powerful team with players handpicked by the legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni. So, for a young dynamic captain like Shubman Gill without the assistance of many seniors except their head coach Ashish Nehra, it will take massive efforts to breach Thala’s fortress in this match.

GUJ have a strong set of batters and bowlers. They have dominated the opponents effortlessly in the league stage games in the previous two seasons. With the services of Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, David Miller, Sai Sudharsan, and Kane Williamson, they will have a power-packed batting unit. 

One pothole that CHE need to fulfil in their pace attack and Mohit Sharma is expected to play that role in the absence of their prime pacester Mohammad Shami. Rashid Khan will undoubtedly be the biggest name on the spin side.
