Hyderabad (HYD) will host Gujarat (GUJ) in the 66th match of the Indian T20 League on May 16, Thursday  at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. 

Pat Cummins and co have had a tremendous tournament so far courtesy the brilliant captaincy and their batters, particularly the opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. 

In the last game against Lucknow (LUC), they chased down a total of 166 runs inside 10 overs without losing a single wicket. Head and Sharma stitched a spectacular partnership and the entire LUC camp was left stupefied by their blistering show. 

HYD would look to put their best foot forward in the upcoming clash as this is their chance to make it to the playoffs. They will rely heavily on their batters to set up a colossal total for the opposition and their bowlers would eye to restrict GUJ within the 200 run mark. 

For the visitors, it is all about pride. They are already out of the competition and would now look to spoil HYD’s party. Their last game against Kolkata was abandoned due to incessant rain but prior to that game, they did come up with a spirited performance against the reigning champions, especially with bat in hand. 

Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan smashed tons to propel GUJ to a competitive total of 231. Their bowlers then backed them by restricting the men in yellow to under 200. 

GUJ triumphed in their inaugural season, and then were runners-up in the following season to now becoming the third side to be eliminated from the competition. With nothing but pride to play for the visitors will give their all and secure a favourable outcome. 

If they manage to beat HYD on Thursday, it would open doors for BLR to have a chance to make it to the next round.

Initially, pacers can make the most of the seam and swing on offer, but as the match progresses, the track becomes more favourable for batting. In the last match played at this venue, LUC faced the hosts. LUC posted a below par total of 166 batting first. HYD’s opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma made the merry of the total as they chased down the target in 9.4 overs.
