Ind T20 League franchises express formal interest to buy Women Ind T20 League teams
About half a dozen franchises of the Indian T20 League have shown keen interest in acquiring Women’s Ind T20 League teams but at least three of them have stayed away.
On the day of technical bids, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bangalore presented bid documents. But a couple of top flight clubs like Chennai and Gujarat have backed out to stake a claim for an Women Ind-T20 League team.
Lucknow is also believed to have been one of the disinterested parties but there was no official confirmation. There are also doubts around the participation of Punjab. However, sources have said the Punjab side too was at the designated venues with the bid papers.
There was no immediate clarity on who among the non Ind T20 League parties have submitted papers but corporate giants from Ahmedabad, the Adani Group and Torrent Pharma, the business which had their eyes on the Ind T20 League side too, have formally expressed interest. Nearly 20 non Ind T20 League bodies, including Udak Kotak, Chettinad Cement, JK Cement, AWL Apollo, Nilgiri and Haldiram amongst others had taken Invitation To Tender (ITT) documents.
The day of submission of papers showing the credentials was Monday, January 23. Those who meet the criteria established by the Indian Cricket Board will be entitled to partake in the financial bidding which will be on Wednesday.
