India Executes Thrilling Heist Over Bangladesh, Wins Test Series 2-0
Team India beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets, and won the test series by 2-0
At the end of the third day at the Kanpur test, nobody would have thought that the Hosts team India could win the second match after losing 235 overs in a test match. However, on the fifth day of the second Test, India chased down a target of 95 runs, winning by 7 wickets and securing the series 2-0 against Bangladesh.
Following this victory, the Rohit Sharma-led team India has become stronger in the points table of the World Test series 2023-25 and it remains at the number 1 position with eight wins out of their 11 test matches in the current cycle, having 74.24% PCT.
On the 4th day of the match, team India bundled up Visistors on 233 runs. After this, on the fourth day itself, the Hosts did not waste any time and they started things off in style and declared their innings 285/9 in just 34.4 overs. With the ferocious batting from everyone, the Kanpur Test suddenly started moving from a draw to a result. After this, on the fifth day, the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc and bowled out Bangladesh for just 146 runs in the second innings and then Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli batted brilliantly and gave Team India the victory.
Team India’s victory script in the Kanpur test was written by the strategy of captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir. On the first day of the game, rain disrupted the game and only 35 overs could be played. After this, due to rain and wet ground, not a single ball could be bowled on the second and third day. All things were signalling a possible draw which could have led team India to suffer a loss in the points table of the World Test series, but Gambhir-Rohit had different intentions and they decided to win the match by playing aggressive cricket.
In the first innings Indian batters showed what they can do to win this match by scoring the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 runs in Test cricket history. After this, Team India also got the support of the bowlers and the trio of Bumrah-Ashwin and Jadeja ensured the defeat of Bangladesh.
The left-handed young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal performed well in both innings of the Kanpur test scoring 72 and 51 respectively. He also scored the most runs in this test series, adding 189 runs. For his terrific batting, Jaiswal also won the Man of the Match award while Ravichandran Ashwin won the Player of the Series award for his overall performance with the bat and ball. It was Rohit Sharma’s young and experience gun players who led the foundation and guided team India to seal the series by 2-0.
