India fall to fifth on World Test Series Table
India slid three positions to fifth place in the World Test Series points table after their 28 run loss against England in the first test at Hyderabad.
Prior to the game, the two time World Test series finalists were placed at second just behind reigning champions Australia. But the disappointing outcome saw them fall below South Africa, New Zealand and Bangladesh, as their percentage decreased from 54.16 to 43.33
India were even table toppers for a brief period, when they had beaten South Africa within two days in Cape Town earlier this month to draw the two match series at 1-1. But their stay at the top of the table was curtailed when the Aussies completed a clean sweep against Pakistan two days later to claim the top spot.
India have thus far won two, drawn two one of their five tests in the latest World Test Series cycle (2023-2025), while losing one to South Africa and England apiece.
The three lions, however, slipped a place despite defeating India, as the Windies got a major boost in their points percentage courtesy a stunning victory against Australia at the Gabba.
West Indies left behind England to occupy the seventh position thanks to their maiden win of this cycle.
