Rohit Sharma discloses the reason for eating grass after T20 WC triumph

Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind eating soil and grass after winning the World T20 League 2024. A video of Rohit was circulating on social media in which he was seen taking some grass and soil from the pitch and deliberately tasting it when everybody else was busy celebrating and clicking pictures with the trophy. This video quickly went viral as this is a rare celebratory gesture that the Indian skipper displayed a sense of respect towards the gentleman’s game.

Rohit said that the ground provided them the victory and he wanted to keep a piece of the surface with him forever. He also said that he would remember this memory for the rest of his life on and off the pitch. Interestingly, the pitch has played a pivotal role in Team India’s success during the World T20 campaign.

“This particular pitch was special. Nothing was scripted. It was spontaneous, feeling the moment. When we played on that pitch, we won the game. I felt the moment deeply as we took the field, and that pitch helped us win the game. That ground and that pitch will forever hold a special place in my memory, as it was the site where our dreams came true. I wanted to have a memento to capture the magic of that experience,” stated Rohit.

“The experience still feels surreal and unreal. It hasn’t fully sunk in yet. It’s been an incredible moment, just like a dream from the end of the game up until now. Despite the reality that it has indeed happened, we can hardly believe it’s true,” he added.

“The sense of accomplishment and relief we feel is palpable. We’ve dreamed about this moment for years, and have worked tirelessly as a team to make it a reality. Now that we’ve achieved our goal, the feeling of satisfaction is truly rewarding,” he further expressed.

Rohit Sharma and co are set to leave from Barbados on their way to New Delhi by Wednesday night.
