Indian cricket team lands in Delhi, receives two-star winners jersey

The Indian cricket team was offered a special champions jersey when they arrived in Delhi. The recently concluded T20 WC winners wore the jersey while meeting the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and also during their victory parade in Mumbai.

Sanju Samson was the first player to share a picture of the new jersey. The Men in Blue returned home on Thursday, July 4 in a chartered Air India plane with the custom number ‘AIC24WC’. The Indian fans have turned up in the streets of Mumbai in large numbers to welcome their heroes.

Rohit Sharma and co. after exhibiting the coveted title at the IGI airport, were given a stay at the ITC Maurya. Then the players met the Prime Minister of India at his official residence. After the meeting, they left for Mumbai for an Open Bus victory parade followed by a ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

In the meantime, they also got a new jersey with two stars imprinted on it which signifies India’s second T20 WC triumph.

Skipper Rohit Sharma walked out of the airport with the trophy in his hand. He, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav were dancing with happiness. The Indian cricket team took 16 hour's journey to reach Mumbai from Barbados in their special chartered flight.

Rohit and co faced a delay due to Hurricane Beryl in Barbados. Team India defeated South Africa by 7 runs with Virat Kohli being the Player of the Match scoring 76 runs. He along with Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah starred as India successfully defended 176 runs in Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20I cricket following their team victory.
