Is Benzema going through a dark phase?
Will Benzema continue to play for Al Ittihad?
Karim Benzema's career with Al Ittihad is now entering a dark phase. After his performance was not optimal and he was sulking, Karim Benzema this time left the Al Ittihad training session. The former Balon d'Or winner made an important step at the start of the 2023/2024 season. Choosing not to accept a new contract offer from Real Madrid, Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia to accept Al Ittihad's proposal.
This transfer received great attention he received a very enthusiastic welcome from Al Ittihad fans. The 36-year-old striker is one of the highest-paid soccer players in the world. However, behind the glitter and salary that Benzema earned at Al Ittihad, there was a dark side to the former Lyon player's career and he repeatedly caused trouble. Everything seems to be looking easy for Al Ittihad and Benzema because they do many important things in the transfer market. They brought in other top players such as N'Golo Kante, Fabinho, and Luiz Felipe. However, Benzema seemed to be a 'thorn in the flesh' for Al Ittihad.
The 36-year-old ace striker was reportedly the party who disagreed with coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who was fired from his coaching position. Benzema was also sullen several times and was not involved in official Al Ittihad activities. Most recently, quoted from Marca, Benzema left the Al Ittihad training session as he clashed with coach Marcelo Gallardo. The former French striker then chose to leave the field as reported by Marca that there was a reason behind Benzema's decision to withdraw from the Al Ittihad training session.
Benzema does have problems with the coach, Marcelo Gallardo. The 48-year-old coach feels Benzema is not training optimally and the Argentinian coach saw that Benzema was not in optimal physical condition and he was far behind his teammates. The former Real Madrid striker feels that his condition is fine and has carried out all the individual programs given.
Is he heading Back to Lyon?
Karim Benzema's lawyer, Hugues Vigier, previously admitted that he supports his client returning to France and reuniting with Lyon. The club will be the perfect ending for Benzema's career because he also started his football career at the club. "When you are at this level and your results are a little less than good at a certain moment, we immediately come and say that this is the end of your career. I have to say that I would be very happy to see him play again at Lyon," he said in an interview. "I would love it. But he hasn't announced it to me at the moment," admitted Vigier.
