Jadon Sancho showing his elegance at Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund comfortably secured the last eight spot in the UCL
The 23-year-old winger Jadon Sancho became the talk of the town after helping Borussia Dortmund qualify for the last eight of the 2023/2024 UCL. Sancho scored one goal, surpassing Antony's total, in the last 16 of the Champions League. In the last 16 of the UCL, the Hosts Dortmund faced PSV Eindhoven after drawing 1-1 in the first leg at Philips Sportpark, Dortmund played the second leg at Signal Induna Park on Wednesday(13th March 2024). The Yellow Submarine won with a score of 2-0 in the second leg, the Hosts' first goal was scored by Jadon Sancho in the 3rd minute then, in the 90+5 minute, Marco Reus scored Die Borussien's second goal.
Dortmund won 3-1 on aggregate over PSV, Edin Terzic's squad qualified for the last eight in the UCL and Sancho proved he is still at the top level. Since moving to Dortmund in the January 2024 transfer window, Sancho has played 10 matches in all competitions. From those 10 matches, the 23-year-old winger was able to score two goals and make one assist.
Even though Sancho's performance has not been stable, at least he has been able to prove his quality. Sancho was able to get through a difficult period and always scored goals in the last two matches with Dortmund. With two goals and one assist, Sancho has now surpassed Antony's achievement of playing more matches. Antony, so far, has only scored one goal in the 29 matches he has played with Manchester United. Sancho and Antony used to compete for a place in the Red Devils' right winger position. However, because he had personal problems with Erik ten Hag, Sancho was frozen out of the first team.
For Jadon Sancho, Dortmund is no longer a foreign team before undergoing a tough phase at Manchester United, Sancho had a brilliant career record at The BVB. Well, that's what the 23-year-old midfielder is trying to repeat. Even though he hasn't been consistent, at least Sancho now feels more confident. Because, at Dortmund, Sancho felt he had full support from his teammates. "I am grateful to be able to score goals for Dortmund. I have always had a special place at Dortmund, this is where I made my name so I have to thank them and also my teammates who have believed in me," said Sancho.
