Jasprit Bumrah's humble reply to Ex-Pak Legend Praise on his viral Yorker

Indian pace legend Jasprit Bumrah was aptly named the player of the match for his clinical performance with the ball in the second Test against England in Vishakapatnam. Bumrah picked up a total of 9 scalps in two innings hence leaving behind Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Player of the Match award race. During the post-match presentation, the Indian great was reminded of the leg-breaking yorker he delivered to dismiss Ollie Pope in the first innings of the 2nd Test. When Harsha Bhogle told the Indian pacer that even the pacing legend Waqar Younis is talking about it, Bumrah gave a befitting reply.

At the beginning of the conversation, the 30-year-old was appraised about his startling statistics for India, despite the Indian pitches favouring the spinners more. Bumrah indeed had a frank response, saying he doesn’t care about the numbers.

"As I said before, I don't look at numbers. As a youngster, I did that and it made me excited. But now it's an added baggage," he stated.

When Bhogle informed him that the entire cricketing world including Waqar Younis is talking about his lethal bowling he replied, "As a youngster that is the first delivery I learned (yorker). Had seen the legends of the game. Waqar, Wasim and even Zaheer Khan."

"We're going through a transition so I feel it's my responsibility to help them in any way I can. We discuss certain things. Have been playing with him for a long period of time (Rohit)," he expressed.

When asked about the clash between him and legendary pacer James Anderson, Bumrah again humbly answered that he is not getting into any competition.

"No, not really (competition with Jimmy?). Before a cricketer, I'm a fast bowling fan. If somebody's doing well, kudos to them. I look at the situation, at the wicket and think what are my options. I should not be a one-trick pony," he also added.
