Man City agree deal with Rennes for Jérémy Doku

Man City have agreed a deal with Rennes for Jérémy Doku, as per sources.

City have given a green light to an agreement worth €65 million ($71m) for the winger, who is now set to fly to Manchester to undergo a medical.

The 21 year old will come in as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who earlier this summer completed his move to Al Ahli.

After Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, Doku will be City's third signing this summer. The Belgium forward has scored 12 goals in 91 games for Rennes since joining from Anderlecht in 2020. He has scored two goals in 14 games for Belgium and was part of the 2022 World Cup squad.

After acquiring the services of Doku, the reigning champions will continue their search for a midfielder to substitute for Kevin De Bruyne. The decorated midfielder has been ruled out until the end of year after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, talks with Barcelona are in progress over a move for João Cancelo. The full back is likely to go on loan with an obligation to make it a permanent deal the following summer.

Centre-back Aymeric Laporte is also on the verge of joining Al Nassr after the Saudi Pro League side agreed a fee with City. Both Cancelo and Laporte were not part of the squad that won 1-0 against Newcastle on Saturday.
