Joao Felix haunts Atletico, remains the only difference between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid
Joao Felix found the back of the net against his parent club as Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid 1-0 to overtake them in the La Liga League standings as they charge again for the title race.
Felix was in full swing and scored the only goal of the evening with a delicate chip, only seconds after appearing stronger than the Atletico defender in a 50-50 tackle to set up the chance.
The Catalan club should have won by more goals but out of form, Lewandowski missed two fine chances while Raphinha struck the post.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone made three changes at the break as he clearly seemed unhappy with what was going on. He is also now in charge of 17 away games lost versus FC Barcelona as a manager.
Ex-Barca player Memphis Depay only came close to scoring with a free kick but Inaki Pena, the Barca gloveman acrobatically tipped the effort onto the crossbar.
With this victory, Barca moves to third place in the points table with 34 points, four off Girona and the table toppers Real Madrid. Atletico now have 31 points and are placed fourth in the points table and also have a game in hand to match that of the top three sides.
