Joel Matip's injury seems quite serious, Likely to be out for a month
Joel Matip might miss the rest of the year's matches
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Joel Matip's knee injury appears to be quite serious but he doesn't know how long the defender will be out. Matip previously played when Liverpool faced Fulham. The Cameroon player competed as a starter. Unfortunately, Matip couldn't play the full 90 minutes and he left the field in the 69th minute. At that time Matip was holding his right knee. He then left the field limping. The Reds will soon face Sheffield United after facing Fulham. In a press conference session ahead of the match against Sheffield, Jurgen Klopp revealed Joel Matip's current condition.
He said Matip's injury looked bad but he doesn't know exactly when the defender will be absent. “I don't know the exact [timescale] but it doesn't look good. That's something we can convey. "The scan hasn't been done yet so we don't know exactly but it's not good," he said as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
"From the first minute, it was clear. I spoke to him and said: 'Ah no, it's not good'. But how long [he will be injured], we don't know," stressed Klopp. Jurgen Klopp then revealed some positive news about Diogo Jota. He said it seemed Jota's injury was not too serious. Klopp also revealed that the Portuguese player was running again. However, he doesn't know exactly when Jota will be able to train and play for Liverpool. Meanwhile, Alisson Becker, admitted that the goalkeeper would return to playing again shortly.
"Diogo ran (Monday) outside, on his birthday and everything was going in the right direction but no one told me that he would be back in team training," he said. "It will take time. Alisson is closer but not tomorrow, of course," continued Klopp.
