Kai Havertz Exits International Squad with Knee Injury
Kai Havertz will miss the international squad following a knee injury
The German national team has recently confirmed that Kai Havertz has been forced to withdraw from their squad due to a problem with his knee. Havertz has been one of Arsenal's standout performers at the start of the season, with the 25-year-old featuring in every Premier League game, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
The forward scored the Gunners' crucial equaliser against Southampton on Saturday and remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes at the Emirates. However, Havertz will not travel with Germany for their Nations League games against Bosnia and the Netherlands, with Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt called up to replace him.
Havertz has enjoyed excellent fitness since joining Arsenal but has had knee problems in the past, in 2017, 2018 and last year while at Chelsea. "Kai Havertz will miss the upcoming internationals against Bosnia and the Netherlands due to a knee problem," the German national team's official website said.
"National coach Julian Nagelsmann has named Jonathan Burkardt as Havertz's replacement. Get well soon, Kai." The severity of Havertz's problem is still uncertain and Mikel Arteta will hope that the German player's absence is just a precautionary measure. The former Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen player has two weeks to rest and recover before Arsenal return to Premier League action against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
