New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Australia’s Meg Lanning and David Warner, West Indies’ Kieron Pollard and India’s Smriti Mandana are among the notable names in ‘The Hundred’ draft. A total of 890 players from 22 nations have registered their names for the forthcoming draft of the men’s and women’s tournament, set to begin on March 20.
The 8 men’s teams had the luxury of retaining 10 players each and the women’s side could keep 8. A total of 137 players were retained on retention day, vacating 75 more spots to be filled on draft day. An additional 16 players, two per squad, will be included to both men’s and women’s teams through Wildcard Draft before the competition commences.
In the women’s tournament Birmingham Phoenix (BIR) will get the first pick, and in the men’s competition it will be Norther Superchargers (NOS).
Dawid Malan, Amy Jones, Ollie Pope, Jason Roy and Lauren Filer are the English players on this list. Other top foreign players comprises India’s Jemimah Rodeigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh; Australia’s Ashleigh Garnder, Matthew Wade, Annabel Sutherland and Tim David; New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Suzie Bates; Pakistan’s Fatima Sana and Shadab Khan.
Ireland’s Prendergast and Paul Stirling; West Indies’ Nicolas Pooran, Shamar Joseph and Deandra Dottin; South Africa’s Lizelle Lee and Lungi Ngidi; Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews; Bangladesh’s Jahanara Alam and Shakib Al Hasan and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman have also given their names for the Draft day.
