Tim Southee’s Grand Exit: A Final Bow from Test Cricket

Soon-to-be 36-year-old New Zealand legend Tim Southee is all set to hang up his boots in Test Cricket after a three-match test series against England at home, starting from November 28.

The former Red ball skipper for New Zealand stepped down as Blackcaps' captain after being whitewashed in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka. Later, under the leadership of Tom Latham, New Zealand whitewashed Team India in the three-match Test series on the tour of India. Notably, Southee had to be dropped from the third and final Test against India for the sake of combination. Southee did not make a mistake in reading the writing on the wall. So, the experienced New Zealand pacer decided to step down with dignity.

Realizing that his Test career is ending, Tim Southee announced his retirement. He announced that the Test series against England in his home country would be the last Test series of his career. So, the third and final Test match of the series against the British at home in Hamilton is going to be the last match of Tim Southee's career in the country's jersey in red-ball cricket.

Southee, 35, has played 104 Test matches for New Zealand so far and he has bowled 385 wickets in 197 innings. He is New Zealand's second-highest wicket-taker in Tests. Except for Sir Richard Hadlee who has taken (431) test wickets, no other New Zealand bowler has taken more Test wickets than Southee.
