Showdown at Parc des Princes: Mbappe's Potential Departure Sparks Uncertainty

With Kylian Mbappe having played his last match for Paris Saint Germain, all the buzz in the capital of Spain is around when he will join the Los Blancos, and when his presentation will be. Although he still has loose ends to tie up in France.

As per L’Equipe, as reported by Diario AS, Mbappe is yet to be paid by the Ligue 1 champions for April. The forward is also due to a €80m bonus, which was meant to be paid in February, but has not been. The relations with PSG president Naseer Al Khelaifi are completely shattered, and he had sought a written document from Mbappe asserting that he would go without that loyalty bonus, but now Mbappe’s camp are demanding its payment.

Alike between the last three months of his contract (April, May, June) Mbappe will be due around €18m in wages, taking the overall figure to €98m that is due from PSG, unless he decides to renounce some of it. Since Mbappe is not continuing at PSG, Al-Khelaifi has also demanded that the Spanish giants pay the €80m loyalty bonus, a claim that has evidently  gone in one ear and out the other.

Real Madrid should not concern themselves with PSG, who apparently will pay in an attempt to end up with a breach of contract. It is suboptimal for Mbappe himself, who will already have to adjust to a new life in a new nation for the first time, and sort out the fanfare of his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu. He will certainly not want any distraction ahead of the Euros either.
