Preview 

The final match of the Lanka T10 League 2024 will be between the Hambantota Bangla Tigers and the Jaffna Titans. The Palleke International Cricket Stadium will host the game on Thursday, December 19. 

On Wednesday, the Bangla Tigers defeated Galle Marvels in Qualifier 2 to reach the finals after losing to Jaffna Titans in Qualifier 1. 

In Qualifier 1, the Titans drafted 124 runs on the scoreboard, with keeper Kusal Mendis contributing the highest score of 47 off 25 balls. Udana and Ratnayake each picked up one wicket for the other side. Like their bowling lineup, HBT batters failed to meet expectations, producing only one score over 15 from Isuru Udana, who tallied 23 off 14 deliveries.  

Treveen Mathew’s four-wicket haul and Pramod Madushan’s two wickets ruined the game for the Bangla Tigers as the Titans won the match by a massive 39-run margin to advance to the finals. 

In contrast, the Galle Marvels just returned from a stunning six-wicket victory against the Kandy Bolts in a high-scoring Eliminator clash. This made them face the Hambantota Bangla Tigers in Qualifier 2 to determine the second finalist. 

The GM lineup lacked clarity during Qualifier 2, as their scorecard featured only one score over 15: Chamidu Wickramasinghe, who remained not out with 32 off 14 deliveries. The Hambantota side showcased brilliant bowling performances. Eshan Malinga took three wickets, while Dhananjaya Lakshan, Tharindu Ratnayake, and Isuru Udana each picked up a couple of wickets.

While chasing a below-par target of 91 runs, HBT lost some early wickets. However, consistent batting performances from keeper Kusal Perera (22 off 10), Shevon Daniel (36 off 17), and skipper Dasun Shanaka (20 off 8) were enough to keep the chase on track and secure the target with four wickets and three overs to spare.

Jaffna and Hambantota have been the best performers in this Lanka T10 League season. They occupied the first and second place in the league stage points table. Yet, JT has shown more strength and consistency, having an in-form squad with plenty of power-hitters and consistent bowlers. Moreover, they have defeated HBT twice in this tournament, once in the league stage and the other recently in the Qualifier 1. Considering both teams' current stats and conditions, we conclude that Jaffna Titans have more chances of winning the Lanka T10 League 2024 finals.
