Galle Marvels will square off against Colombo Strikers in the 5th match of the Lanka T20 League 2024. The game is scheduled to be played at the Pallekale Stadium on Wednesday, July 3. 

GM has won their first event match by 5 wickets against Jaffna Kings. Their bowlers restricted the Kings to a total of 177 runs. Zahoor Khan was the leader of the pack with three wickets while Isuru Udana and Dwaine Pretorius picked up two wickets apiece. Niroshan Dickwella and Alex Hales led the counter-attack scoring 47 and 65 runs respectively. The middle order batters namely Tim Seifert, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Janith Liyanage performed below par but still, the team held the nerves and chased down the target with a boundary on the final ball to secure victory. 

On the other side, CS thrashed Kandy Falcons in their inaugural match by 51 runs. They score a formidable total of 198 runs at a loss of 7 wickets. While Sadeera Samarawickrama scored the highest (48) from the side, skipper Thisara Perera also amassed 38 runs to get to the total. Their star opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz under-performed in this match and will look forward to learn his mistakes. The bowling side also didn’t disappoint the fans. Shadab Khan stole the show with his four-wicket haul including a hattrick along Dunith Wellalage, who also picked up four to restrict the Falcons to a score of 147.
