Liverpool Leaves Spurs in Ruins, Marches to Final

The Reds overpowered Tottenham with a dominant 4-0 win, overturning the aggregate to 4-1. On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Liverpool stepped onto the pitch determined to erase their 1-0 first-leg defeat at Tottenham’s home ground.

Arne Slot’s team wasted no time asserting control. From the first whistle, Liverpool pressed high, dictated possession, and created dangerous chances. Tottenham struggled to respond and never found their rhythm.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 34th minute after meeting a cross from the left. The goal energized Liverpool, who kept pushing forward. Early in the second half, Darwin Núñez forced a penalty after Tottenham’s goalkeeper brought him down in the box. Mohamed Salah converted it with a precise shot into the top corner, doubling the lead in the 51st minute.

Liverpool kept attacking, and in the 75th minute, Dominik Szoboszlai fired in the third goal after receiving a pass from the right. Virgil van Dijk sealed the win in the 80th minute with a powerful header, making it 4-0.

Arne Slot made four changes to his starting XI from the Bournemouth game, while Ange Postecoglou adjusted Tottenham’s lineup with two changes, including new signing Kevin Danso in defence. However, Tottenham failed to disrupt Liverpool’s dominance.

With this commanding victory, Liverpool secured their place in the Carabao Cup final, where Newcastle awaits.
