Liverpool star striker to join squad against Sparta Prague
Liverpool vs Sparta Prague: Europa League News and Updates
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said Mohamed Salah has been included in the squad that will play against Sparta Prague. The Reds will face Sparta Prague in the first leg of the last 16 of the 2023/2024 Europa League at Epet ARENA on Thursday (07th March 2024). The 31-year-old Egyptian striker previously suffered an injury, he then experienced a hamstring problem while playing for his national team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Salah was then able to appear against Brentford.
But after that, he was injured again, and Salah has continued to miss Liverpool's four matches. Now his condition has improved and he has also been able to train again in the last few days. The current EPL leaders’ coach Klopp then said that Salah is part of the team group that will go to Sparta Prague’s visit. However, he cannot confirm whether the 31-year-old striker will play or not.
"Yes, Mo travelled, he was with us, Salah trained for two days, full of energy," Klopp insisted as per reports. "We'll have to see, but it's great that he's back, it's very good for us and you can see on his face he's very happy," said Klopp. As previously known, the Egyptian star forward was injured while playing against the Bees in the EPL clash. Following this reason, the 56-year-old German head coach will now try to be careful in making decisions regarding Salah.
“It was a very unfortunate situation to be out for a long time, if you will, at Brentford, play a great game there and be out again. That's how it is," he said. "We want to be careful, we have to be careful, but in the middle of a very intense period of the season, we need all the players and now let's see how long we can play him. That's how it happened with him and the other players. Yes, good news," said Klopp.
