Maguire's road to recovery ahead of Euro 2024
Maguire works on fitness ahead of Euro 2024
Former Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has been named in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary England squad for the Euro 2024 in spite of not playing for his club since April 27 due to a muscle injury. The centre back missed the FA cup final where Man Utd got the better of fierce rivals Man City to clinch their maiden trophy of the season.
As per reports, unlike his teammates who have gone for holidays at the end of the season, Maguire has decided to work on his fitness ahead of the Euros starting next month. The defender reported for England’s training on Tuesday, before various other players were slated to join the camp. The 31 year old is joined by Left back and club mate Luke Shaw and Newcastle’s Anthoney Gordon who are also recuperating from injuries.
Except for Jude Bellingham, Kobbie Maino and four Manchester City players the Three Lions squad will begin training under Southgate’s guidance from May 29.
England will face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland in a couple of friendly fixtures on June 3 and June 7 respectively.
