Retention list for Major T20 League Season 2 is out


Major T20 League have issued a list of 23 players who have been retained for the second edition of the tournament. The widely acclaimed league is set to begin on July 4, four days after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup. Major T20. Major T20 League has strategically scheduled an opportune period between the World Cup and The Hundred, taking advantage of a white ball hiatus for prominent teams such as Australia, New Zealand, England, and Pakistan. This ensures that there will be no potential clash in player availability, making it an ideal window for them. 

MINY managed to maintain their core that guided them to glory in 2023. Nicolas Pooran, Dewald Brewis, Tim David and Kieron Pollard will come together once again and try to defend the title. Kagiso Rabada, Rashid Khan and Trent Boult will yet again reunite to lead a formidable bowling attack. 

Runners up Seattle retained the South African trio of Heinrich Klassen, Quinton de Kock and skipper Wayne Parnell. They also locked in Pakistan all rounder Imad Wasim, who recently drew curtains on his international career. Veteran batter Faf Du Plessis is back at the helm of TSK alongside the Kiwi pair of Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner. 

West Indies stalwarts Andre Russell and skipper Sunil Narine will represent LAKR along with Jason Roy, coming back to honour his two year contract with the franchise after electing to walk away from the game. Aussie speedster Spencer Johnson and Adam Zampa were among the other notable names retained by LAKR. 

San Francisco and Ricky Ponting’s Washington witnessed the maximum churn as the two franchises mustered to retain only two players apiece from their respective overseas contingents. San Francisco retained hard hitting batter Fin Allen, fresh off his world record achievement against Pakistan. The franchise however might fret over the availability of their second pick- Haris Rauf. The pacer has been finding himself up the creek as the PCB is giving him a hard time for NOCs for foreign leagues. Washington acquired the services of Akeal Hossain, an up and coming star in the T20 circuit and Marco Jansen. 

The franchises have to name 9 international players in their rosters. With no overseas draft pick in place, the franchises are believed to straightaway deliberated with their wish listed players for further international signings. The domestic retentions are believed to be finalised by the end of February prior to the domestic draft in March.
