Man Utd legend doubts Man City's chances of retaining the EPL title
Roy Keane believes that Arsenal or Liverpool might win the EPL title race
The 52-year-old Red Devils legend Roy Keane admits that he is now starting to doubt Manchester City's chances of retaining the Premier League title. The Irish man is now even more in favour of Arsenal emerging as champions. Last October, Keane emphasized that City was the strongest candidate to win the Premier League for the 2023/2024 season. However, now Keane is starting to change his mind.
The reason is of course the not-so-good trend that City is currently experiencing in the league. Pep Guardiola's men have now recorded a draw in their last three league matches. Most recently, Citizens were held to a draw with a score of 3-3 when they hosted another top side, Tottenham in the match week 14 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane explained several reasons why he is now starting to doubt Man City's chances of retaining the title.
"I certainly wouldn't bet against Man City, but I'm starting to doubt whether City will win the title," said Keane. "There's a reason why it hasn't been won for four years in a row because keeping that level high, the hunger, the desire, they lost some players through injury, including some of their best players." Furthermore, Roy Keane also named the two strongest candidates who could emerge as champions at the end of the season. According to Keane, the leading name is Arsenal, which currently sits at the top of the standings.
“But I am watching Arsenal and Liverpool, especially Arsenal with the strength and depth they have and the experience of last year,” Keane said. Despite this prediction, Keane emphasized that he still cannot exclude Man City from the race for the Premier League champions this season.
