Manchester United eager to sign Noussair Mazraoui
Manchester United keeping an eye on Noussair Mazraoui
Manchester United are eyeing numerous potential right-back signings including Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui, according to a source.
United would like to bolster their squad by making another potential right-back signing, but it likely hinges on the departure of Wan Bissaka.
Bayern defender Mazraoui is one of the names that has come forward while the club has formerly held an interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. As per a source the 26-year-old Moroccan International will be permitted to vacate the Allianz Arena if Bayern’s valuation is met.
United have signed 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille, but are open to resolving defensive woes during the window.
There is still interest in Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, although the European giants are demanding a fee over £42 million.
United are open to hear offers for Wan Bissaka, who has been under Galatasaray and West Ham’s radar and are hoping to get around £20m for him. The 26-year-old has only one year left on his contract.
Wan Bissaka is expected to be a part of the United squad travelling to Los Angeles on Wednesday to kick start their pre-season tour with matches against Arsenal and Real Betis.
United are set to take a curtailed number of staff to the United States amid plans to cut approximately 250 jobs from the workforce. A section of staff who have been told their jobs are at risk has been removed from the tour with the cost-cutting drive, led by new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team.
United refused to comment upon the staff reductions.
