Marcus Rashford hits back at abuse from Manchester United

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has called the criticism he has received off late as “abuse”

Rashford has been castigated by fans and pundits after a dismal campaign during which he mustered just eight goals in 40 matches across all competitions this season so far.

While replying to a post on X, which stated the way Rashford has been treated is “absolutely disgusting” and “cruel”, the England international said the level of criticism has become too much.

He wrote: “ It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough."

Rashford netted 30 goals across all competitions for the very first time last season and penned a new long term contract at the Theatre of Dreams in the summer, but has struggled to replicate that form this year.

Following a disappointing outing in United’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, the 26 year old was dropped to the bench by manager Erik Ten Hag. He was even criticised for his off field behaviour and activities by the Dutch boss.

Rasford’s decision to host a birthday bash in a Manchester nightclub just hours after a 3-0 Manchester derby defeat in November was labelled “unacceptable” by the Dutch boss.

The United coach disciplined the forward again in January after he skipped training ahead of an FA Cup clash against Newport Country after he was spotted at a nightclub in Belfast.

Rashford missed the last PL clash against Sheffield United due to an injury he picked up during the FA Cup semi final clash against Coventry City. He left Wembley limping and is in doubt for the upcoming PL fixture against Burnley on Saturday.
