Inter Milan wins Scudetto after beating city rival AC Milan by 2-1

The 26-year-old striker Marcus Thuram got the spotlight thanks to his provocative celebration after bringing Inter Milan to win the 2023/2024 Serie A. This time the Scudetto feels very special because it was won in a derby match against neighbours, AC Milan. Milan and Inter met in match 33 at the San Siro on Monday(22nd April 2024). Inter took the lead through Francesco Acerbi's goal which lasted until halftime entering the second half, the Nerazzurri doubled their lead through Marcus Thuram's goal. Milan was only able to reduce the score in the 80th minute thanks to a goal from Fikayo Tomori and Inter sealed a 2-1 victory.

Fights between players marked the end of this match the referee was forced to issue red cards to three players, respectively Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria from Milan and Denzel Dumfries from Inter. This victory meant Inter has now collected 86 points, 17 points ahead of Milan who sits in second place with only five matches remaining in the league, Inter can’t catch up on points.

Apart from being achieved thanks to the victory over Milan, this Scudetto feels even more special because it is the 20th in Inter's history. This also indicated that they now have the right to use two stars above their logo. Inter Milan is the second team in Italian history to achieve a collection of 20 league trophies, after Juventus (36). Inter also managed to get ahead of its neighbours, AC Milan in the hunt for the two stars above the club logo. The reason is, Milan is currently still stuck at achieving 19 Scudettos.
