Like every season, Mumbai has followed their tradition and lost their first match and like every other season, Sanju Samson has followed his own footsteps and played a match-defining knock against Hyderabad. Will Mumbai maintain their unfortunate tradition going or Sanju and his boys will suffer their first defeat of the season?

Well, it’s tough but at the end of the day, it’s cricket. Rajasthan looked rock solid in their last match and they do have a very powerful bowling attack which can create havoc in Mumbai’s inexperienced middle order. When it comes to their batting, Jos the Boss has already delivered in the previous match and his record against Mumbai is great. Devdutt Padikkal looked in great touch and like already said, Sanju Samson is the match winner in the team. Some of the shots he played in the previous match can make anyone fall in love with the game. The duo of Boult and Prasidh Krishna broke Hyderabad’s backbone in the previous match and if they do the same to Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and others, the men in Pink will already be a step ahead. You don’t say this a lot against Mumbai but Rajasthan is indeed the favourites to win the match.

The only positive thing coming to the match for Mumbai is that Suryakumar Yadav is now fit and will be making his return into the side. Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Verma did show what they can do but even after all this, their bowling will be a huge concern. Jasprit Bumrah led the attack but the Indian International didn’t look close to his best as he conceded 43 of his 3.2 overs. Daniel Sams, the Australian conceded 57 in his four while two other pacers went over 8. Murugan Ashwin was impressive but he is not someone who will win you matches with the bowl in his hand. He can be economical at his best. Thus, Mumbai needs some immediate solution to bolster their bowling line-up. Otherwise, Rajasthan has enough firepower to put a lot of pressure on Mumbai.

Like already said, Rajasthan will start as the favourites as they have a really strong unit this time around. Mumbai’s fate will depend a lot on Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. When it comes to bowling, Jasprit Bumrah will have to be at his absolute best to help Mumbai get their first win of the season.

Ishan Kishan looked absolutely fantastic in their last match against Delhi. He is their main run getter and if he gets going, Mumbai can put up a really good score on board.

Jos Buttler gave the perfect start that Rajasthan needed in their opening match and later his teammates capitalised on it. He could have gone in the first ball itself but with some luck, he survived and punished Hyderabad.

Suryakumar Yadav is the most important player for Mumbai in the middle order. He’s got the skills and the perfect mindset which helped Mumbai win multiple league titles. Coming back from injury, he will be hungry to score runs.

Trent Boult led the bowling lineup in the previous match. It is because of his sheer pace, he was able to attack Hyderabad right from the first over and against his former teammates, Boult will have things to prove and most importantly, he is aware of their weaknesses.
