Michael Vaughan quoted saying, ‘Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja should have won more’

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20I cricket after winning the 2024 WC. The ex-England skipper Michael Vaughan expresses that the Indian star cricketers should have won more than “one or two more” trophies as per their influence in the game. Team India who were slowly getting the tag of choker tag, ended their 11-year wait for an international title with the 2024 WC win, last month under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

In the final match against the Proteas at the Barbados, Player of the Match Virat Kohli smashed 76 runs as the Men in Blue won by seven runs.

Vaughan stated that the T20 WC win was the perfect farewell to Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja from T20Is, but they know that they should have won more cups.

“They’ll all agree that it is a perfect way to go, but they should have won more white ball trophies amongst them. He was part of the first WC win in 2007. To think that it has taken him seventeen years to get another one in his hand, I think he will be the first one to admit that they should have won one or two more,” Vaughan said.

“What a way to go out with a win in Barbados and a trophy in your hand. Now they can sit back and play Test cricket, a bit of one-day cricket, and in the IPL like MS Dhoni, play on forever. In Indian cricket, they will be replaced as there’s plenty of talent in that team,” the former England skipper added.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have only retired from T20Is and can be seen in action donning the Indian jersey in Tests and ODIs. Also, Indian Cricket Board, General Secretary, Jay Shah announced that Rohit Sharma will continue to lead India in Tests and ODIs.
