Stefano Pioli is soon to be sacked at AC Milan

AC Milan management has reportedly decided to expel Stefano Pioli from the San Siro at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Pioli's appointment was initially greeted with scepticism by many parties. Because previously he didn't have a good record in managing a team but Pioli was able to silence those who doubted him. The 58-year-old veteran coach successfully helped the Rossoneri return to playing in the Champions League and ultimately helped them win the Scudetto again. Unfortunately, after that, he had difficulty bringing Milan to a better performance. The Rossoneri's performance is unstable and they are having difficulty competing on the domestic stage, let alone in Europe.

It was reported that the 2nd-placed Rossoneri would let go of Stefano Pioli at the end of this season. But then there were rumours that the Rossoneri management would keep him after the club's performance improved. However, recently Milan's performance has declined again. As a result, they were knocked out of the Europa League. Milan even failed to compete against Inter Milan in the hunt for the Scudetto. The Rossoneri became the stepping stone for the Nerrazurri to win the Serie A title.

Inter became champions of the Italian League after beating Milan 1-2 at the San Siro in Week 33 of Serie A on Monday(22nd April 2024). After the defeat, Fabrizio Romano reported that the Rossoneri management had decided to expel Pioli. "Stefano Pioli is likely to be sacked by the AC Milan board at the end of the season despite public statements after the Derby. AC Milan is already looking for a new manager."

So who are the candidates to replace Stefano Pioli at AC Milan? Several names have emerged so far. There is the name of the Barcelona coach, Xavi. Then the Lisbon sporting boss, Ruben Amorim, and even Bayern Munich's coach, Thomas Tuchel. Not only this, EPL side Aston Villa coach Unai Emery is also said to be in Milan's sights. Bologna's young coach, Thiago Motta, is also reportedly being targeted by Milan, Moreover, former Juventus and Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte is in the hunt for the same as well.
