Mohammad Shami Gears Up for Comeback in Ranji Trophy
Mohammad Shami set to return to competitive cricket in Ranji Trophy
Indian pacer Mohammad Shami, who is recuperating from an injury is set to return to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy. The Cricket Association of Bengal has confirmed that the veteran seamer will feature in the match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore which starts on Wednesday, November 13.
Shami has not played for India since the ODI World Series final in November 2024, which marks his comeback after a prolonged rehabilitation period. Shami had to undergo surgery initially for an Achilles heel injury and later suffered a setback in recovery when there was some knee swelling. This had postponed his comeback, even though he did attend a few sessions at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru on the sidelines of India’s test fixture against New Zealand.
Shami’s return to cricket will be a big boost for Team India. They will play five tests against Australia starting from November 22. Last month, captain Rohit Sharma said he was hoping to get Shami back to full fitness in time. Although Shami has not been named in the test squad that has been announced, he could still make it if fitness is not a concern.
