Mohammad Shami ruled out of Ind T20 League 2024
Mohammad Shami set to miss Ind T20 League 2024
Mohammed Shami is eyeing to “get back on his feet soon” after undergoing surgery in his right Achilles tendon on Monday. However the rehabilitation process will take time and hence the veteran pacer will not be available for the Ind T20 League 2024, which will be played from March 22 to May 26.
Shami hasn’t featured in any game since India’s ODI World Cup campaign, where he played a critical role in India’s triumphant run to the final, finishing the tournament as the leading wicket taker with 24 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 10.70 and strike rate of 12.20.
He fought through the pain during the showpiece event, taking injections to treat his ankle, and has been out of action ever since.
“Looking forward to getting back on my feet," Shami stated on a social media post and posted a picture of him.
Besides the Ind T20 League there is also uncertainty over Shami’s participation in the World T20 Series 2024. Before undergoing surgery, Shami took an expert opinion in London after the management in NCA recommended it.
Meanwhile, the men in blue, fresh off their series win over England in Ranchi on Monday, have been handed a four-day break. They will vacate Ranchi on Tuesday and gather in Dharamsala, the venue for fifth and final test of this series on March 3. The test match is scheduled to begin on March 7. India have gained an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five match series.
