Former India and Chennai batter Ambati Rayudu stated that MS Dhoni gives immense importance to his fitness, The veteran keeper batter is in perfect shape even at the age of 42. Dhoni keeps on hitting sixes in the death overs and has shown great flexibility as a wicketkeeper in the Indian T20 League 2024.
Dhoni has accumulated 136 runs at a strike rate of 226.26 in 13 games so far. The veteran’s average of 68 is the highest amongst the Chennai squad. In the Indian T20 League 2024, he has smashed 12 big sixes and has been dismissed only twice which shows his commitment to fitness and big-hitting capabilities coming down the order.
“He has been working out in the gym for the past two years. He’s been lifting a lot of weights and investing a lot of time in his recovery process. He takes care of his physique and muscles to avoid injuries. The fact that he has been batting frequently is what drives him and allows the veteran to hit sixes in the nets,” Ambati Rayudu expressed.
After Kolkata and Mumbai, Chennai became the third team to win 50 matches at home. The Kings defeated the Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium by a five-wicket margin to complete this incredible feat.
Though he ended his captaincy stint this year and handed over the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhoni will still play a crucial role in Chennai's playoff chances when they take on Bengaluru on May 18 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
