Neymar Officially Exits Al Hilal, Santos Deal Coming Soon
The Brazilian star footballer Neymar’s time with Al Hilal has officially ended. The club and Neymar have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. The 32-year-old forward joined Al Hilal in the summer of 2023 for a fee of 90 million euros, but injuries have disrupted his time in Saudi Arabia.
In October 2023, Neymar injured his anterior cruciate ligament, sidelining him for a significant period. After returning to action, he re-injured his hamstring during his second appearance for Al Hilal in November 2023. Neymar made only seven appearances for Al Hilal in the league and cup. He scored one goal in the Asian Champions League against Nassaji Mazandaran on October 3, 2023.
Although Neymar’s contract with the Blue Waves was set to expire at the end of this season, the 32-year-old chose to part ways with the club earlier. Neymar won’t stay without a job for long. He will return to Brazil, where Sky Germany reports that he will rejoin FC Santos. He is expected to sign a contract through the end of the season.
Santos marks the start of Neymar’s professional career. He played 225 matches, scoring 136 goals and recording 64 assists for the club. Despite his struggles in Saudi Arabia, Neymar remains one of the world’s top players. Alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez at Barcelona, he won the Champions League, two La Liga titles, and three Copa del Rey trophies.
Neymar moved to PSG in 2017, where he won five Ligue 1 titles and several other domestic trophies. He began his career at Santos in 2009 and helped lead the club to the 2011 Copa Libertadores title.
On the international stage, Neymar has made 128 appearances and scored 79 goals for Brazil, including winning the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
