R Ashwin indicates the Leadership difference between the Indian Captain and Head Coach

Gautam Gambhir is the new head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, his era started with the white-ball tour of  Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue won the T20I series by a margin of 3-0 but lost the ODI series by 0-2. Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid whose last assignment was India’s T20 WC-winning campaign back in June. GG is famous for his outspoken attitude and strong opinions. 

He will now be working with Rohit Sharma in the One Day Internationals and Test Cricket formats. 

The real test of the Rohit-Gambhir duo will start from the home Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. 

As the international games are knocking at the door after almost one month break, Ravichandran Ashwin spoke about the difference in styles of Rohit and Gambhir in a show. 

“Gauti bhai is intense. There are similarities between Rohit and Gautam, but Rohit keeps it light. Gauti has an intense personality,” Ashwin said.

The off-spinner also expressed that the differences should be acknowledged. 

“Gambhir is passionate about Indian cricket like Rahul Dravid. But both are different. Yes, they have different personalities. MS Dhoni was cool, so everyone wanted the others to be like him, but it didn’t work that way. Everyone has their style, and we should accept it,” he added.

Ashwin was noticed in action during the Tamil Nadu T20 League 2024 and will return to action donning the blue jersey in India’s upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
