Rabada, Bavuma overlooked for the white ball leg against India
South Africa name squad for their all format series against India
South African Cricket Board has named their men squad for the all format series against India that starts December 10, 2023 and ends January 7, 2024. The two sides will compete against one another in three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches.
Three uncapped players- Mihlali Mpongwana, David Bendingham and Nandre Burger have earned maiden call-ups. Speedster Burger has been named in all three formats, while Bengingham has found a place in the Test squad. Exciting all rounder Mpongwana who grabbed headlines with his splendid all round performance in the final of a Division 1 tournament in October, is rewarded with a call up in the ODI squad.
South Africa’s veteran duo of Temba Bavuma and Kagison Rabada have been overlooked for the white ball leg to solely focus on red ball cricket ahead. Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Goetzee will not feature in the 3rd T20I and the ODI series in order to prepare for the Test series that follows soon after the conclusion of the white ball leg. These five players will be seen playing first class cricket representing their respective domestic sides before the two match Test series commences on December 26.
