Rain washes out the first day of the second test
The opening day of the second test between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been washed out in Rawalpindi.
Torrential overnight rainfall which had initially delayed the start of play with water puddles on the ground making it unsuitable for playing. Things took a turn for the worse when the showers returned, further dampening the conditions. When it stopped eventually, and for a brief period, the umpires inspected before the first session was washed out.
Soon after the clouds opened up again and the entire day was called off.
The series opener, also played in Rawalpindi, had also witnessed rain interruptions. With wet outfield delaying more than half of the day's play, it eventually began and the visitors went on to win the test to script history. The second test had been shifted to Rawalpindi after initially being scheduled in Karachi due to stadium renovation happening there.
Bangladesh leads the two-match test series 1-0 with the important World Test Series points at stake. Bangladesh are currently positioned at seventh just a rung above Pakistan who are placed at eighth in the World Test Series rankings.
