Rashid Khan backs his teammates after semi-final lapse

The Afghan side's WC run ended with their loss in the Semi-Finals against South Africa. Their win against Australia and Bangladesh will inspire a generation of cricket fans.

Skipper Rashid Khan said that Afghanistan could any day beat the top-ranked teams and be among the best in the world earning them a spotlight in the tournament.

“It was something very special for us,” he said. “And it’s just the beginning for us, you know, we got that kind of confidence we want and the belief that yes, we can beat any side on a day.

“So overall, it was a great tournament for us.”

With this win, the Proteas remain unbeaten in this tournament but have faced stern tests against Nepal, Netherlands, Bangladesh, and England and have only beaten the West Indies with five balls to spare in the Super Eight stage.

“A lot of our games have been really close and I know there’s a lot of people back at home in the early hours of the morning, waking up and we’re giving them a lot of grey hair!” Markram said. “So hopefully this evening was a little bit more comforting for them.”
