Rashid Khan pulls out of Aus T20 League 2023

Afghanistan’s spin wizard Rashid Khan is set to miss the upcoming season of the Australian T20 league due to a back injury, which necessitates him to undergo a surgery.

Adelaide said in a statement “Rashid has withdrawn from Aus T20 League 13 due to a back injury which requires a minor operation. “

"Rashid is a beloved member of the Adelaide camp and a fan favourite who has been with us for seven years, so he will be extremely missed this summer," Adelaide General Manager of cricket Tim Nielsen said.

"Rashid loves Adelaide, and we know how much he loves playing in the Aus T20 League, and we support him as he has treatment for this injury to ensure his long-term involvement in the game."

Rashid was last seen in action during Afghanistan’s dreamy World Cup campaign earlier this month, where the Central Asian nation was in contention for a semi final spot till their very last league fixture against South Africa. He finished with 11 wickets, the most by an Afghan bowler in the 2023 World Cup.

Rashid became the second foreign player after Stars’ Harry Brook to withdraw from the upcoming edition.
