Ravi Ashwin about to surpass yet another Indian legend on this record

Team India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma has already sealed the Test series against England. The “Men in Blue” have an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the five-match series and will look forward to putting a final nail to the coffin. With the fifth and final Test starting on March 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Rohit Sharma and Co. will be determined to hold the top spot in the World Test Championship rankings.

Apart from this, the match at Dharamsala may also see the Indian off-spin wizard surpassing one of the Indian greats in terms of the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian bowler in Test Cricket history.

Ashwin is also set to perform in his 100th Test in Dharamsala and recently crossed the milestone of 500 wickets in the third Test in Rajkot to become the only second Indian bowler to achieve this remarkable feat.

The ace spinner will now target to break the record of 35 five-wicket hauls which is jointly held by the legendary spinner Anil Kumble.

As of now, Muthiah Muralitharan has the most fifers i.e. 67 followed by Shane Warne (37), and Richard Hadlee (36). Another fifer in Dharamsala from Ashwin will level his record with that of Hadlee and set Indian spin standards to yet another height.
