Ravi Shastri discloses an exciting story about this pacer’s greatness and talent
Pace captain Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian cricket team from the front and took 8 wickets in the first Test match against Australia at Optus Stadium in Perth. The fats bowling sensation was named the Player of the Match for his valiant effort as the visitors managed to draft another thumping win by 295 runs to go up 1-0 in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Bumrah’s fantastic efforts with the new ball didn’t let the Aussies settle down in both the innings of the game.
The Mumbai bowler picked up three wickets at the beginning of the innings, but the home side failed to recover from the constant blows. He picked up a fifer in the first innings and three in the second, along with Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana, who were also bowling well.
Ex-Indian player Ravi Shastri, the team’s head coach when Bumrah debuted in South Africa in 2018, disclosed an exciting story about the sensation of modern-day pace.
“He is a special bowler and doesn’t need the help of his captain to set the field. In his debut series in South Africa, he didn’t take the help of the skipper to set the field. I saw him doing it for himself and that shows the greatness and the talent of a bowler. He knew from the starting what he wanted,” Ravi Shastri told Wasim Akram.
The ex-Pakistan legend is also a big fan of the seamer and praised them for his captaincy and bowling effort in the series opener against Australia.
