Rehan Ahmed flies back home citing personal reasons
England leg spinner Rehan Ahmed’s tour to India comes to a premature end as he will return home due to personal reasons. England have opted not to name a replacement for the youngster for the final fixture.
The 19 year old played all three tests until now, claiming 11 wickets– the second leading wicket taker for England on this tour after Tom Hartley (16 wickets). His tally includes a spectacular six wicket haul in Vizag. However, England chose to bring back finger spinner Shoaib Bashir for the all important fourth Test in Ranchi.
Ahmed was in the practice session on the evening of the Ranchi Test but has had to rush back home concerning personal reasons. England head into the Ranchi test needing to win in order to stay in contention for the series. The final match of the tour will be played at Dharamsala, starting on March 7.
