These Indian star players to end domestic cricket exile on September

Indian captain Rohit Sharma and prime batsman Virat Kohli are highly anticipated to feature in the Duleep Trophy ahead of the two-Test series against Bangladesh. The series will be crucial for India in order to qualify for the third consecutive World Test Series final. However, as per reports, the senior selection committee has directed that all eligible players should participate in the forthcoming domestic tournament.

As per reports, this indicates the addition of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, with several other top Indian players including Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav, have been instructed to participate in the upcoming tournament.

Indian pace star Jasprit Bumrah will miss the Duleep Trophy as he has been on a resting period following the Indian T20 League and the T20 WC 2024. The rest is given to help the player manage his workload.

The selectors have kept their discussions on hold regarding including Bumrah in the two-Test series against Bangladesh. This decision comes after Team India faces a tight schedule of 10 Test matches over the next four months, including five important matches in Australia.

The Indian Cricket Board is thinking of participating in one round of the Duleep Trophy at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, as the tournament’s current location of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh is not accessible by flight.

The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to be held from September 5 to 24. Yet the first Test match between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played on September 19 in Chennai. This clash in schedules means that the senior Indian players whose teams reach the Duleep Trophy finals may not be available. Also, the reports indicate uncertainty around whether the star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will partake in the Duleep Trophy opener on September 5 or the second round starting September 12.

Also, the Indian Cricket Board is planning a short training camp to be held in Chennai before the Bangladesh Test series. If this idea gets finalized, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play in the inaugural round of the domestic event. Also, the Test series against Bangladesh will be played in Chennai.
